United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women are divided into small groups call "Circles" that meet monthly. In addition, all members come together four times a year. West Nash has three circles. Hope Circle meets the third Monday night at 7:00 pm, Wesley Circle meets on the second Monday night at 7:00 pm, and Ruth Circle meets the third Wednesday at 2:00 pm. All groups meet at the church. Any women of the church may be a member. There are no meetings during the months of June, July and August.
The stated purpose"....is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church."
For further information please call the church office at (252) 237-4258.
UMW Reading Program
We have some new books in for the United Methodist Women’s Reading Program. If you are interested in participating in the reading program, or are currently participating in it, please let Mo Holliday know. The new books for 2010 are as follows:
A Credible Witness: Brenda McNeil uses Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman and her own experiences to show how to cross barriers of race, gender and social position that too often separate Christians and block many from fulfilling the biblical mandate to “love one another”.
Caring for Mother: A memoir of a family’s seven-year ordeal of caring for their mother’s Alzheimer’s illness.
Growing Friendships: God offers friendships as a lifeline for women, and like flowers, relationships must be handled with gentle care.
What About Religion and Science: Paul Stroble helps readers examine ways religion and science relate to each other and provide meaning and value in our lives.
A Life-Shaping Prayer: 52 meditations developed around Elizabeth Rhodes special prayer’s four questions: Who is God to me? What can I give to God? How does God shape my life? How do I live as a disciple of Christ?
These, along with books from the past four years’ reading lists can be used towards this years reading program. Our books are in a box in the prayer room. Please just sign them out as indicated. If you have any books at home that have been read and need to be returned, please do so in order that others may read them as well. If you have any questions, call Mo Holliday, 291-3318. Thank you.

Campbell Soup Collections

Last Sunday at the District UMW meeting we learned that the Campbell Co. wants us to send in the bar code on labels with the picture of the mascot "Labels for Education." They will not accept the front of the label anymore as of June, 2006.
I suggest that this notice be sent to all pastors for communication to
our women and others who may be collecting these labels.
Yours truly, Charles Myers
