West Nash Youth - May News

Wow, it is hard to believe that another school year of UMYF is almost over. May is the last month that we will meet on a regular basis until September. We will meet in June, July and August but it will only be twice a month unless we have additional special events.

Saturday, May 12th , we will meet at 10 a.m. for Meals on Wheels.

We will have “meet and eat” on Wednesday May 2nd, 9th, and 16th from 6-7:30pm. We will gather at T-BOB and travel to our destination for food and fellowship.

We will meet Sunday, May 6th at our regular times.

May 13th is Mother’s Day and we will not meet that evening.

Sunday, May 20th will be the end of year party. A time and destination to be announced at a later date.

God Bless,
Ms. Lori

It is an exciting week held the third week of June at Louisburg College. The youth spend a week devoting themselves to Christ through a Christian community establishing a strong relationship with God. They have spititual growth groups, movie groups, meals in the cafeteria, a concert, a dance, worship services in the evenings and conclude their week with an inspiring communion service.

ACS is an exhilarating experience for youth to meet God through themselves and others.  They meet the third week of July at Methodist College in Fayetteville.  Each day ACS features legislative affairs sessions dealing with resolutions on current issues, spiritual growth groups and interest groups on a variety of topics. Election of officers are held along with district meetings to select district representatives to Conference youth committees.

Our UMYF have a lock-in in the fall and one in the spring.  The youth arrive Friday night and spend the night at T-BOB (the builing out back) with adult supervision where there are activities such as playing games. music, watching movies and a time of fellowship.

Fundraisers-
West Nash UMYF try to do several fundraisers a year.  We have sold notecards and calendars. car washes, selling pizza coupons, bake sales, servant auctions and dessert auctions.

Youth Newletter-
The youth receive a newsletter each month telling them of the upcoming events and trips that will be taking place.

Parties-
The youth usually have two parties a year. One is held at Christmas where we get together at someone's home and exchange gifts.  The other party is held in May and is the end of year party.  We usually pick a place where we have never been. (examples:adventure landing park, pool party, etc.)
